Heinen's Grocery Store

Living in Lisle, I never knew about this store until one day I had to go to Naperville. On my way back I went in and was pleasantly surprised. The carts didn't rattle, the store was immaculate and the staff were extremely friendly. As far as pricing goes, some of the products that they sell may be a little higher but some are lower. Most of the products are very similar to prices at Jewel. They also have a lot of items on that are on sale each week that are really good deals. The fresh meat can be expensive (its expensive everywhere, especially beef), but is a much better quality than Jewel. Overall, its nice to stop into Heinens once a week to see what they have on sale, and during that week to stock up on sale items.

Nice store, but doesn't differentiate itself enough from other stores in the area. It's clean, it has good produce. But the butcher department is small. The fish department is pretty limited. The deli is nice but unremarkable. It's clean, well-staffed and well-managed. But pricing skews high, and Heinen's doesn't offer anything that will cause me to make a special trip there.

Absolutely beautiful grocery experience with high quality products, especially its expansive meat selection. This Heinen’s has a near perfect environment with clean, non-cluttered aisles, and is exceptionally merchandised. Heinen’s is far more personalized and next level amazing over a Whole Food’s for example. Time and time again, I have discovered that the produce and Heinens is definitely exceptional and far above average than most other grocery stores. Some of the Health and beauty aids (HABA) are higher priced than average; and I will generally only buy them if they are on sale for a reduced price in line where you can get them at their best price. With that said, this grass-roots company has reasonable, exceptional prices for the high-quality products it carries! There are so many amazing aspects to this store, including its wine, spirit, and craft beer section with its awesome tasting section . . . to it’s Sushi and Mexican food counters. This has become my favorite store in the entire area, and I hope more people discover this amazing gem and helped to keep it in our community for decades to come and beyond. I popped in out of curiosity. And what? A pricing nightmare. I don't think I've seen such inflated prices in a long time. Many products are even 100 percent higher. I won't even mention the vegetables, because the prices there make my head spin. Sure, the decor is nice, clean, and the service is friendly, but that's not why I go to the store. Overall, I went and saw it, but I have no reason to come back.

Extremely overpriced produce and meat: organic roma tomatoes were $3.29/lb, Avocados were on sale for $.79 but they were smaller than average so you're not saving any money by getting those anyway. Apple cider from Patterson Fruit Farm was bland and watery, not worth $2.50 for a 16oz bottle. I'd rather buy a liter of Martinelli's apple juice or cider from Walmart for $4-5 Sushi was being made fresh at 10am and each roll was $10. There is a hot bar that was also absurdly priced: $15/lb for a flat Americanized version of veggie samosas?? Save your money and go to India Co or Patel Brothers for that. Bakery advertised fresh, scratch-made pies and had a curated selection of other baked goods. They do have a bottled olive oil and vinegar section which is cool, but the options are miniscule and feels more like they just needed to fit something in that spot of the store. They seem to have a majority of young, white employees. The uniform is very professional and so is the service. No complaints about them. I may come back to try their fresh foods and update my review one day.
